Yom-Kippur services are open and free to all students, faculty and community. Come for part or for all.

TUESDAY 9/22/2015 EVE OF YOM KIPPUR 5776

4:30-6pm: Pre-fast Dinner, full-course meal served at Shabbos House.

6:30pm: Kol Nidrei Services in the Campus Center Assembly Hall (2nd floor from podium, 3 floors from basement entrance)

WEDNESDAY 9/23/2015  YOM KIPPUR DAY 5776 

9:30am: Traditional (Orthodox) services begin in UAlbany Campus Center Assembly Hall (these Yom-Kippur Shacharit and Musaf services, usually run until about 2pm)

11am: Egalitarian Services begin in UAlbany Campus Center Room 375 (one floor up from Assembly Hall). These services are led by Rabbi Nomi of Hillel.

2pm-5pm: Afternoon Break. During the Break (usually between 2pm and 5:30pm) Hillel is running two workshops: A relaxing Yoga session as well as a discussion led by Aviv, Hillel’s Israel Fellow.

5:30pm: Mincha Prayer in the Campus Center Assembly Hall (we read the Book of Jonah)

6:30pm: Neilah Closing Prayer in the Campus Center Assembly Hall

7:33pm: Fast Ends with Shofar Blast!

7:35pm: Hillel serves Breakfast in the adjoining Fireside Lounge outside the Assembly Hall

A FEW NOTES ABOUT THE SERVICES

Both evening prayers (Tues and Wed nights) will be joint in Assembly Hall, led by Rabbi Mendel in a traditional but student-friendly format.

The traditional services are led in Hebrew, but page numbers are called and short explanations and inspiration tidbits shared throughout.

There’s no charge, no dress code, no attendance taken. Come as works for you.

We have a limited number of Tallit for people to use, you can bring your own as well if that’s your family custom, but there is no requirement to wear one, of course.
