The 24-Hour Vigil – is a long-standing UAlbany tradition, coordinated by UAlbany Hillel, beginning this year at 4:30pm on Sunday until 4:30pm on Monday afternoon. Prayer Service times will be 6pm for Mincha and 9pm for Maariv on Sunday, and a 6:15am Shacharit prayer early Monday morning with Tefillin and Torah reading. All throughout the 24-hour vigil students take turns reading names of Holocaust victims from the Podium with the names reverberating and echoing through the Academic Podium. Holocaust films will be shown, some students try to stay out all night, and there’s an overall focus on awareness and remembrance.
