Some parents have asked about the Jewish aspects of Homecoming Weekend 2016 at UAlbany.

Interestingly, this year UAlbany’s Homecoming Weekend falls on the Shabbos between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, known as “Shabbos Shuvah” (Return!) How fitting!

FRIDAY NIGHT OCT 7
This year Homecoming Weekend Shabbat Dinner will be with Hillel in the Campus Center.
Candlelighting is 6:07pm – there are no arrangements to light candles on campus, but parents are welcome to light at Shabbos House if they wish.
7pm Prayers on the 3rd floor of the Campus Center. There will be both Orthodox and progressive/egalitarian services available.
8pm Shabbat Dinner will be by Hillel in the Assembly Hall (2nd floor of the Campus Center), families are very welcome.

SHABBAT DAY OCT 8
10am Shabbat Morning Minyan at Shabbos House – Chabad (32o Fuller Road, just off Great Dane Drive)
12:30pm Shabbat Lunch at Shabbos House, families are very welcome. If you can’t make it at 12:30, no worries, we’re home and would be great to see you and enjoy some Shabbat Lunch anytime early afternoon.
Mincha will be right after Lunch and we’ll host a light third Shabbat meal at 6pm before the end of Shabbat.
7:06pm Maariv and Havdalah

The “Humans of New York” speaker series event will be 8pm at the SEFCU Arena (close to Shabbos House), so it won’t be a Shabbat conflict.

See UAlbany Alumni Association’s Full Weekend Schedule Here.

SUNDAY MORNING OCT 9
Our weekly Sunday Minyan Brunch begins at 11am, followed by a bagel brunch and a short Talmud study. Parents still in town are welcome to join as well.

ALTERNATE PARENTS WEEKEND
Please note that due to some parents request, we will once again be hosting an alternate parents weekend at Shabbos House in the Spring semester, February 24-25. Stay tuned!
