UAlbany has many events planned for this exciting weekend with returning alumni, visiting parents, sports games and activities and general excitement in the air…
But don’t forget Shabbat! Shabbat is also a “Homecoming” and “Family Weekend” especially at UAlbany where we try to celebrate as an extended communal family.
Friday Night Dinner:
Hillel dinner this week (it alternates between Shabbos House – Chabad and Hillel) in the Campus Center, 3rd floor. Prayers are at 7pm, dinner at 8pm. Families are welcome.
Shabbat Minyan and Lunch:
10am at Shabbos House (320 Fuller Rd, near Great Dane Drive), traditional, informal, welcoming and student-friendly. Lunch usually begins at 12:30pm. Students and guests are welcome for either Prayers and/or Lunch or both. Come when works for you.
End of Shabbat Light Dinner:
Shabbat ends 6:50, come for a light dinner starting at 5:50 or so. We usually do some light discussion, singing and sharing, followed by Maariv (evening service) and Havdalah when Shabbat ends.
Hillel Havdalah:
Hillel began a rotating Havdalah that moves to different spots on campus each week. Stay tuned for a time and location (it is usually a little after Shabbos ends to give time for those at Shabbos House who want to attend both).
Sunday Minyan Bagel Brunch:
We’re trying to keep this regular this year, thanks to eager and involved freshmen students. We pray at 11am, followed by a brunch.
We hope you all enjoy the weekend, with pleasant Fall weather, beautiful foliage, and lots of activities and excitement. Thanks for celebrating with us and the UAlbany Jewish campus community.
