Sunday 11/12 Mifgash High Kristallnacht Event
with a talk by Arnie Adler (telling his father’s survivor story), Mezuzah-making of broken glass, discussion groups with UAlbany students
Monday 11/13 Change to this week’s Conversations at Kosher
We’ll get back to meeting Mondays at Kosher. This week we’re offering something different: Students w/o meal-plans, go eat out with a friend(s) one lunch or dinner at Kosher on Indian any day this week, send us a picture of the receipt and some Jewish theme you (briefly) discussed and we will pay you back. You must confirm with us first as we have a limited number of paid meals we can do for this week.
Tuesday 11/14 Hillel’s Tuesday-Schmoozeday
11am-2pm at the Hillel Office with Bagels and nosh. Stop by for a couple of minutes or to hang out between classes.
Tuesday 11/14 Zookeeper’s Wife instead of Torah-Tues
Instead of Torah-Tuesday this week we’re going on a “field trip” to UAlbany’s downtown Page Hall to see “The Zookeeper’s Wife” presented by Judaic Studies and the Federation’s Holocaust Survivors & Friends. Carpool from Shabbos House around 6:45pm, plus another ride down just after 7pm. We will pick up and drop off on campus, let us know.
Wed 11/15 Chillel with Hillel Israeli Food
Every Wednesday evening in November (aside for Thanksgiving weekend) Hillel is showing movies and having chill nights. This week is an Israeli theme, featuring an Israeli film documentary about Israeli food – and its far more than you’d expect.
Thurs 11/16 Girls Nite-In! Oil Pastel Chanukah Paint Night
Artist and teacher Mrs. Levin is back! Many enjoyed our Paint ‘n Sip last year (with a Rosh Hashanah theme) – same idea, only this time with a different technique, using black paper and oil pastels for a lighting darkness Chanukah theme. Girls Nite-IN! 8pm at Shabbos House
Friday 11/17 Hillel Dinner
Prayers 6pm, Dinner 7pm. Come celebrate Shabbat with Hillel.
Shabbat 11/18 Minyan & Lunch
10am Prayers, it’s AJ’s Bar-Mitzvah anniversary, Rabbi Mendel will be away at the big Chabad Rabbis (Shluchim Kinus) Conference. Let’s keep the Minyan going and Raizy will be here with a delicious Shabbat Lunch. Womens Wisdom during Mincha.
Sunday 11/19 Chabad Kinus Banquet
You can watch the Chabad Shluchim Kinus (conference) Banquet streamed online, it’s a mega event, the largest sit-down dinner in NYC (this year actually in Bayonne NJ) with inspirational speakers and dynamic Jewish energy from around the world. Sunday evening starting around 6:00pm at Chabad.org/Kinus (more details later)
