There was once a king that called out to his subjects that he’s looking for ordinary subjects to join his inner circle. But they have to have extraordinary drive and passion. Most ordinary people thought this wouldn’t apply to them, so they didn’t bother going to the palace to find out more. But a group of about 500 thought they’d try. The king showed them a 100-story tower. He told them they had 10 minutes to get to the top. Hearing that, 400 people dropped out then and there. Ten minutes to climb up 100 stories!? Impossible! Why would their otherwise reasonable king even ask such a thing of them.
But the hundred that were undaunted gave it a shot. They climbed 5 stories, then ten, but after that people started dropping off. Especially once the remaining ones neared the twenty-fifth and thirtieth floors, and time was running out. By the time they got to the 45th floor, there were only 5-6 people left. And time was running out. It just didn’t seem possible. But one fellow just wouldn’t give up. He tossed all reason and all calculations out the window and continued to climb. And at the 50th floor, when he was out of breath, with just a few seconds left, an elevator door opened which took him straight up to the top.
There are a lot of goals in life that seem impossible. And by all logical calculations they are indeed humanly impossible. But we sometimes forget the G-d factor. If we do our share, and push ourselves to our max, think that an elevator door might just open at the 50th floor. It’s not up to us to go all the way, we just have to do our part.
