Leading up to Simchat Torah 2024, the Hebrew anniversary of the terrible attacks of October 7th, there are many posts and online videos about why and how to dance this Simchas Torah, the first anniversary of the attacks, and in the midst of the war and its aftermath.

We found this short 3-minute video from a popular Israeli rabbi, teacher and speaker, Rabbi Ashkenazi re: “Dancing this year Simchat Torah” very meaningful – especially since both Raizy and I heard the Sderot car story from the Israeli officer’s perspective when we visited there this summer.

It’s Hebrew with English subtitles, and the message and tone comes through loud and clear.

This is not our video, its Rabbi Schneur Ashkenazi, and we first saw it on Whatsapp , the Twitter. As we wanted to share it via our alumni email posting it here as well as a sharable link, since we didn’t see it posted on Youtube or a similar platform.

This year this rings true, a lot a lot more! The question (and our response) has so many levels and layers of meaning. It resonates so much!
