The Baby Alfie story and health care controversy in England was big news this week. It’s a great discussion on its own about parental rights and healthcare decisions, and how society views life altogether, but that’s a subject for a different time. What I would like to share is a very powerful column by John Kass of the Chicago Tribune.

It touched me because of our own experience with one of our daughters, it touched me because of something a close relative is struggling with, and from stories of alumni who have gone through similar experiences with their children.
I share it today because the Torah portion speaks multiple times about parents and children. And because we have a student’s parent here today who will share a few words with us. This message about parental love and what it can do for children is a fitting introduction.
