Many of you know that I am actively involved in Jewish life at UAlbany, serving on both the Hillel and Lchaim Boards, so when I went to Washington DC this semester for the Albany Washington Semester program, I tried to participate in Jewish life there as soon as I got down there. I attended Friday Nights at both the GW Chabad and at Hillel, and am grateful to have these opportunities while I am in DC living 5 blocks from the US Capitol and working for the venerable Smithsonian Institution. At the same time, being down there, made me appreciate all the more the special community we have here at UAlbany. GW Chabad and Hillel are both great, and each have their advantages, but its not the same as we have it here, not at all. So I consider myself lucky to be a part of this special Jewish campus community at UAlbany, and hope that we always value and appreciate the blessings and unique atmosphere we have here.
