UAlbany Homecoming Weekend 2017 welcomes families and alumni, for a host of great events ranging from speakers to sports and so much in between. There’s Shabbat, too, of course. See below for important info for visiting families or alumni observant of Shabbat and/or Kosher or simply interested in Jewish campus community.
FRIDAY NIGHT 10/20/2017
This year UAlbany Hillel hosts Homecoming Weekend Shabbat Dinner in the Campus Center. Prayers are 7pm (in designated Campus Center rooms) followed by 8pm Dinner in Campus Center Room 375 (top floor, back left corner). Families and alumni, and students, of course, are all very welcome. The food at the Hillel Dinner is prepared at Kosher Dining on Indian Quad.
SHABBAT DAY 10/21/2017
Shabbat morning Minyan will be 10am at Shabbos House – Chabad. Special for this week, we will be hosting an “Ufruf – Shabbat Chatan” for a UAlbany alumni who will be called to the Torah before getting married. Minyan Prayers are followed by Shabbat Lunch beginning 12:30pm. Parents, families, alumni are all welcome. If you can’t make it at 12:30pm, later is fine, too. Shabbos ends 6:46pm.
SUNDAY 10/22/2017
Minyan Brunch at Shabbos House 10am. Students please note earlier time to accommodate the Gift of Life drive and brunch (provided by Shabbos House) 11am-1pm on campus. Parents and family are very welcome to either event.
